Experiencing advent in Iceland as a foreigner will give you some new traditions. The streets and windows are filled with lights, the sun rises above the horizon for only a few hours a day, and the long nights are made brighter with cheery folks and twinkling lights. And if you are lucky the mesmerizing aurora borealis dances in the sky above.
Aurora forecast for the coming winter. “There will continue to be aurora viewing opportunities in 2022.” “The solar cycle is indeed ramping up and as solar activity increases, so do the chances for Earth-directed blobs of plasma, the coronal mass ejections, which drive the geomagnetic storms and aurora. (Steenburgh)
The last solar maximum, or period of peak activity, occurred in 2014, according to the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, placing the next one in approximately 2025.
The best time to see the aurora borealis in Iceland comes down to 2 factors: time of year and time of day. The best months are between October and March. The best time of day would be the hours around midnight.
The northern lights can last anywhere from 10 minutes to all night long, depending on the magnitude of the incoming solar wind.
Thanks to all our wonderful guests. Today, we are regarded as one of the best hotels in Iceland. We would like to thank all our wonderful guests for all the positive reviews which no one should take for granted. You are the promoters of our business. We could not have made this without you.

No trip to Iceland is complete without a soak in one of our hot springs. We are a hotel with four large geothermal pools. Surrounded by snow and winter, being in a warm outdoor pool or in the sauna room underneath the stars and the northern lights, or during the light summer nights, watching the midnight sun, is reason enough to visit our hotel. Remember you don’t have to book in advance! It´s open to guests from 08 to 23 every day.
Massage. There is nothing like a massage to relieve stress, promote relaxation and give you a feeling of well-being. Our massages are available for 60 and 90-minute sessions.
We serve a full-course delicious dinner consisting of three dishes: appetiser, main course, and dessert. Every day between 19.00 and 21.00. At dinner, we offer “the catch of the day”. Diners can be seated looking at a presentation kitchen while they are overlooking a panoramic view of south Iceland. The food is served communal style on one long dining table with seats on both sides. Remember you don’t have to book in advance!
Our mission statement: To create personal experiences for our guests that they will treasure for a lifetime.
Remember what our guests say about us: „My husband and I actually stayed back in June 2021 and I was reminded to leave a review! We were in Iceland for three weeks and stayed in most of the luxury hotels around the country and I’d have to say this was by far our favourite. The rooms are large and beautiful – this is truly a magical place. Also worth mentioning that breakfast was also the best we had throughout the country. The hosts were absolutely lovely and gave us tons of information before the start of the trip. We hope to return to Iceland for the northern lights and this is where we still stay if we do so.“
“We can’t say enough positive things about this hotel experience. This is my fourth trip to Iceland and was a first visit for my Mom and daughter. We’ve been fortunate to stay at some lovely places around the country, but this was by far our favourite. It has the usual amenities in spades… terrific WiFi, huge rooms and bathrooms, a nice modern feel with truly gorgeous furniture and modern, original Icelandic art. We ate dinner and breakfast there and both were outstanding. It’s also a great location with easy access to south Iceland and it’s not far from the Golden Circle. Two things really make this hotel special—the view and the people. The view is stunning in all directions! Like wow! And the people were incredibly kind, authentic, and just lovely. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience & hope to have an opportunity to stay again. Would highly recommend!”
„I honestly don’t want to write a review because I want this to be one of the best kept secrets in Iceland. Oli and Anna are wonderful hosts and their staff are lovely, including the most amazing Cooking staff. Our family had such an amazing time at this boutique hotel. The natural spa is simply phenomenal. The accommodations are beautiful -modern, high-quality fixtures and so well appointed rooms. The resident dogs, Mia and Tina, are so cute — my kids loved them! I didn’t want to leave. Quite frankly one of the best experiences we had in Iceland, and that speaks volumes because everything was such a phenomenal experience and adventure! Thank you to your wonderful team!“
